Flash Charge Lithium Ion Batteries based on Nanomaterials for Mobile Phones and EVs

Niles Fleischer, StoreDot, Herzilya, Israel

This presentation will review the use of innovative materials and their applications in fast charge batteries. By using unique synthesis techniques to fine tune material properties batteries are being developed that can be fully charged in 6 minutes for a host of devices ranging from consumer electronics like mobile phones that are powered by a single cell, to the ultimate mobile device, electric cars, that use battery packs made from hundreds of cells. Breakthroughs will be discussed regarding our proprietary technology (patent protected) for gradient layered nanoparticles. Results will also be presented for batteries based on our special coatings that enhance structural stability during charge/discharge cycling and provide for fast ion transport to enable ultra-fast charging of the cell. Adopting a new approach that has completely redesigned rechargeable lithium ion batteries, our FlashBatteryTM technology consists of both a proprietary battery chemistry and a charging technology.
