Among many outstanding GC-based research works, the investigation of the open tubular capillary column and of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) can be considered, in the present author’s opinion, as the two most important innovations in the GC field. In this respect, the separation-power leaps from the packed to the capillary column, and from the latter to GC×GC, are comparable. The present work is focused on the combination of GC×GC system with rapid-scanning triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. The novel QqQ MS system is capable of operation under high speed conditions, in both full-scan (maximum scan speed: 20,000 amu/s) and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) modes. Moreover, the QqQ MS instrument can generate simultaneous full scan/MRM data, also in a very rapid manner.
