Organometallic Nanoparticles

Gabriel Lemcoff, Chemistry, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel

This presentation will detail a new development in our group dealing with the study of organometallic nanoparticles (ONPs) produced by the single chain collapse of suitable polymers by complexation with metal ions.1 The formation of the novel ONPs are based on the affinity of 1,5-hexadiene units in ROMP derived polycyclooctadiene to chelate various transition metals. The synthesis, characterization and some of the properties of these exciting new materials will be discussed. Applications in catalysis and recent unpublished work in the area will also be presented.
