Organic nanoparticles (ONPs) prepared via the intramolecular cross-linking of single polymer chains pose promising prospects for various applications.1-3 We have recently developed an intramolecular single chain collapse approach for the synthesis of organometallic nanoparticles using ROMP-derived pCOD (PBD) and the direct ligand exchange of Rh(I), Ir(I) and Ni(0) complexes.4-5 The current studies focus on the preparation of high Mw PBD with varying cis/trans content and the investigation of their binding propensity towards the organometallic cross-linkers. These studies may allow further insight into the formation of these novel compounds and help to design and synthesize more robust ONPs with new applications.
