Nanostructured Optical Biosensors for Agro-pollutants Detection

Giorgi Shtenberg, Agricultural Research Organization, Volcani Institute, Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Rishon LeZion , Israel (giorgi@agri.gov.il)

Our latest developments in the field of agricultural pollutants monitoring and detection will be presented. These include label-free optical biosensors and bioassays based on nanomaterials, nanoparticles and thin films for monitoring environmental contaminants. Moreover, our platforms are utilized for early diagnosis of animal diseases (bovine mastitis, botulism and brucellosis), field crops quality control and food safety by targeting mycotoxins, pathogenic bacteria and other hazardous substances. The analytical performances will be compared to standard practices and techniques, thus exemplifying the potential use of the developed schemes for the systematic monitoring of a wide range of composite systems.
