Artificial Intelligence and Analytical Chemistry, Challenges and Solutions An Introductory Overview

Bianca Avramovitch, Dr., Mevasseret Zion, Israel (bianca.avramovitch@gmail.com)

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) to analytical chemistry has grown tremendously in recent years. The innovations in hardware and algorithms have allowed the development of revolutionary approaches in big data-based technologies linked to image recognition, vibrational spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. The impact on health and food industries, environmental monitoring, manufacturing processes, and supply chain, for example, is changing the way we plan, decide, and manage future innovation processes. In this overview, we will deal with the achievements of AI applications, the challenges we face, and the new terms/language brought by AI development. We will review one of the important AI applications in chromatography, DeepLC, as well as the rise of approvals for medical devices based on software where spectroscopy-based solutions are the main achievements. We will conclude with a comparative ChatGPT/analytical experts quiz analysis.
