Prof. Itskovitz-Eldor participated in the first derivation of human embryonic stem cell lines in 1998. Assisted by NIH funding, his team distributed human embryonic stem cells across North America, Europe and Israel, and supported scientists in establishing stem cell research laboratories. Prof. Itskovitz-Eldor was one of the founders of Israel Stem Cell Society and served as its president in years 2007-2009. His team pioneered several technologies for growing, expanding and differentiating human pluripotent stem cells that are currently marketed in industry and serve as a basis for future clinical applications. He authored over 300 publications, holds the highest number of publications in the field of human embryonic stem cells and a has long list of patents. He was recently among the founders of Accellta Ltd., and serves as its CSO.
