Sarah Ferber is the Director of the Molecular Endocrinology Unit at the Centre for Stem Cells, Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering, at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel.
Sarah Ferber is an Associate Professor of Human Genetics and Molecular Medicine at Sackler School of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University. She holds a Doctor of Science from Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology, and studied in the laboratories of the two Nobel Prize winners Prof Avram Hershko and Prof Aaron Ciechanover. She later completed her post-doctorate degree at Harvard University in Boston, MA, USA.
Associate Professor Ferber was the first to demonstrate the possibility of using the liver for generating functional insulin-producing cells. Among her many honors, she has received the TEVA, Lindner, Rubin, and Wolfson awards for her innovative research, and she has mentored more than 30 graduates and post-doctorate students and physicians. Associate Professor Ferber serves on the editorial board of several journals in the field of regenerative medicine and gene therapy and a member of the board of the European and Israeli Gene and Cell Therapy Societies.
