Arriving there

Arriving at Haifa from Ben-Gurion (TLV) airport:

There are several ways to get from the airport to the town of Haifa. Apart from using the dedicated EMCC8 shuttles, the most convenient way is to use the train (see below).

By EMCC-dedicated shuttles
For those who arriving during Saturday we will provide a free shuttle from the airport to your hotel in Haifa. Soon we will publish the shuttle schedule, which will be planned according to expectation.

To find the shuttle driver please step to the right as soon as you leave the door exiting the customs.

By Train:
Using the train is the most convenient way to get independently to Haifa. There are trains every approximately 30 minutes, leaving from the airport to Haifa (most of them do not require to transfer, but stop at Tel-Aviv stations before continuing north). To get to the station turn left upon exiting the customs door.
Please notice that the trains do not run between Friday afternoon and Saturday 20:00 or so.

The journey should take app. 75 minutes. Get down at “Haifa Hof – HaKarmel” station and leave the station by its west exit (just follow the majority of people). As you step out you will notice a taxi station. From the train station to most of the hotels it should take no more than 10-15 minutes.

If you need to go directly from the station to the conference at the Technion, you better ask the driver to use the tunnel. In that case you may expect to be charged by an extra 10-15 NIS but you will save several precious minutes.  Make sure to tell the driver that you would like to get to the “Department of Chemical Engineering” and not to the “Department of Chemistry”.

By Taxi:
There are Taxis at the airport. The cost is around 400-450 NIS for a cab and the ride takes 60-90 minutes depending on traffic and route. If you prefer to order a driver that will wait especially for you at the airport please let us know ahead of time and we will arrange it. In that case the cost would be 380 NIS for 1-4 people. You may have to add 25 NIS if you choose to use toll-road 6.

By car:
Haifa can be reached from the airport by routes 2,4,6. Our recommendation is to use the toll-road 6 during working hours (in particular during rush hours) and route 2 otherwise.

Arriving to the conference venue:

By EMCC8 dedicated shuttle:
A free shuttle service from the hotels and back will be provided. The schedule will be publicized once we have the information regarding lodging.

By Car:
The Technion’s gate keepers are instructed to let in any car heading for the meeting. To be on the safe side please print one of the letters sent to you from us and show it at the gate if needed. Inside the Technion, you may use the Technion’s map on the EMCC website (under “the venue”) to find your way.

  • Entering from the main gate (Neve Shaanan) gate: take half-left at the gate, drive 350 m until you get to the “stainless arches” roundabout. Turn left (downhill) at the roundabout. 200 meters past this roundabout you will notice a second (olive tree”) roundabout. Pass it and continue downhill for another 400 meters and park on the parking lot to your right, just in front of the Chem. Eng. Building.
  • Entering from the eastern (“Nesher”) gate: This is the default gate for people arriving by route 6 – Yokneam- Yagur – Nesher. Enter at the gate. 150 meters past the gate you will encounter a roundabout. Turn right (downhill) and continue 300 meters, until you get to a parking lot on your left, right after the Chem. Eng. Building. Park.

By Shuttle from Haifa Hof-HaKarmel train station:
Shuttles will be provided by us on Sunday: 8:15, 8:45 and back to the station at the end of the day. Our representative, holding a sign, will wait at the western exit.
Shuttles will be provided also on Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday depending on demand. Please notify us accordingly.

By taxi:
A taxi station is located at the western entrance to the station. We recommend to ask the driver to use Haifa’s tunnel. In that case you may expect to be charged by an extra 10-15 NIS but you will save several precious minutes. Make sure to tell the driver that you would like to get to the “Department of Chemical Engineering” and not to the “Department of Chemistry”.
