After the PhD thesis (1982), Prof Dr Angel Irabien has been leading a research group in the Basque Country University, as Lecturer. From June 1991 full professor of chemical engineering at the University of Cantabria and General Director of Environment (2003-05) in the Regional Government. From 2005 leading a research unit “SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION” with more than 20 researchers. In 2012 he got the Spanish Royal Society research award.
