A. Personal Statement
My research interests include developing integrated analytical systems for the analysis and characterization of complex protein mixtures using multidimensional separation systems and mass spectrometry. I have a long-standing interest in affinity chromatography and in developing novel chromatographic materials. I co-founded PerSeptive Biosystems, now part of Applied Biosystems, and developed the company’s POROS® resins. These materials are now widely used in purifying protein pharmaceuticals. The approach we propose in this project is a novel application of these technologies to produce stable protein drug formulations. I will provide expertise in peptide screening and in synthesizing novel derivatives.
