Chemistry and Metrology: an Overview of European Activities

Dr. Michela Sega is a chemists and holds a PhD in “Chemical Sciences”, from the University of Torino, Italy. She is a permanent researcher at the Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRIM, Italy), within the Research Programme “Amount of substance” and leads the laboratory of “Primary gravimetric gas mixtures and organic analysis”. She has been the chairperson of the EURAMET Technical Committee on Metrology in Chemistry since 2011. She had a research secondment on gas analysis at the Chemistry Department of the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) in 2005. She participated in research projects in the framework of the European Programmes iMERA-Plus (implementing Metrology in the European Research Area) and EMRP (European Metrology Research Programme) and in projects with industrial partners mainly focused on gas analysis. At present she is participating in a project of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union on metrology of nanoparticles. She is a technical assessor for the Italian Accreditation Body in the amount of substance field. She is co-author of about 25 publications on international and national journals.
