Prof. Dr. Luigi Mondello is Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Health Products Department of the University of Messina, Italy. He received a degree in Chemistry from the University of Messina in 1991. Prof. Mondello teaches the course of Analytical Chemistry at the School of Pharmacy of the University of Messina, and the course of Analytical Chemistry at the “Campus Bio-Medico” in Rome. He is the author of 264 Scientific papers, 53 book chapters, 10 reviews, co-editor of a book on Multidimensional Chromatography (John Wiley & Sons), and he has been chairman and invited lecturer in national and international congresses and meetings. His research interests include Chromatography techniques (HRGC, HPLC, HRGC/MS, HPLC/MS, OPLC) and the development of coupled techniques such as LC-GC-MS, GC-GC, GCxGC, LCxLC, LCxGC and their applications in the study of natural complex matrices.Prof. Mondello has been member of the organizing committees of national and international meetings and he is permanent member of the scientific committee of the International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC), of the International Symposium on Essential Oils (ISEO), of the International Symposium on Hyphenated Techniques in Chromatography and Hyphenated Chromatographic Analyzers (HTC), of the Brazilian Symposium on Chromatography and Related Techniques (SIMCRO), of the “Congresso Latino-Americano de Cromatografia e TécnicasRelacionades (COLACRO)" member of the Scientific Committee of the “Workshop-Symposium on Analytical and Preparative Enantioseparation (Enantiosep ’07), he has been member of Scientific Committee of the 11th International Symposium on Separation Sciences, Pardubice, Czech Republic, Co-Chairman of the 34th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC), Riva del Garda, Italy, member of Scientific Committee of the 16th International Symposium on Separation Sciences, Roma, Italy, member of the Scientific Committee of the 12th International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Technologies (ExTech), Poznan, Poland, Chairman of the 36th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC) and the 9thGCxGC Symposium, Riva del Garda, Italy, Chairman of the 14th International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Technologies (ExTech), Messina, Italy, member of the Steering Committee of the Italian Separation Science Group of the Italian Chemical Society, member of the expert team of “Chromedia” (Chromatography Knowledge Base), co-president and co-founder of TheMediterranean Separation Science Foundation Training and Research Center, Editor in Chief of Journal Essential Oil Research published by Allured, Editor of Journal of Separation Science published by John Wiley & Sons, member of the Central Technical Committee of the National System for the Accreditation of the Laboratory (ACCREDIA), member of the Advisory Board of LC-GC Europe, Separation Science and ScientiaChromatographica and serves as reviewer for 50 different  Journals in the field of Analytical Chemistry and Food Chemistry. In February 2006 (York, U.K.) he was awarded with the “HTC-Award for the most outstanding and innovative work in the field of hyphenated chromatographic techniques”, from the Flemish Chemical Society. In May 2008 (Riva del Garda, Italy) he was awarded from “The Chromatographic Society” with the “Silver Jubilee Medal for his Considerable Contribution to the Development of Separation Sciences”. In October 2008 during the "Congresso Latino-Americano de Cromatografia e TécnicasRelacionades" helded in Florianòpolis, Brasil the "InstitutoInternacional de Cromatografia" has assigned to Prof. Luigi Mondello the COLACRO Medal for his contribution to the development and diffusion of the Chromatographic Techniques. In September 2012 during the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society Conference in Elba, Italy, he was awarded with the “Liberti Medal”. In 2013 he as been awarded in “The Analytical Scientist Innovation Awards (TASIAs) and in September 2014 will be the reciepient of the IFEAT Medal by the International Federation of Essential Oils & Aroma Trades. He is present in the list of the “Top Italian Scientist (via-Academy) with a relative position of 87 on about 2800 scientists with h-Index of 41.
The Analytical Scientist Journal has included his name in the “Power List” among the top 100 most influential people in the analytical sciences.
Up to July 10, 2014 as downloaded from the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) he has got 272 (286 Scopus database) papers, 4373 (4787 Scopus database) times cited (3314 without self citations) with an Average Citation per Year of 208.24, an Average Citation per Item of 16.08 and an H-index of 35 (37 Scopus database, 43 Google Scholar).
