Major Research Interests and achievements:
Establishment of functional preclinical models for normal human hematopoietic stem cells (Lapidot & Dick et al, Science 92).
 Identification and characterization of human cancer stem cells (for the first time), in the blood of newly daignosd leukemia patients with AML (Lapidot & Dick et al Nature 94).
Regulation of hematopoietic human stem cell engraftment and repopulation in transplanted immune deficient mice: The roles of the chemokine SDF-1 (CXCL12) and its major receptor CXCR4: (Peled & Lapidot et al Science 99, Petit & Lapidot et al Nature Immunology 02, Dar & Lapidot et al Nature Immunology 05, Kollet & Lapidot et al Nature Medicine 06, Spiegel & Lapidot et all Nature Immunology 07, Schajnovitz & Lapidot et al Nat Immunology 011, Ludin & Lapidot et al Nature Immunology 012, Gur-Cohen & Lapidot et al  Nature Medicine 015).
