Prof. Itskovitz-Eldor participated in the first derivation of human embryonic stem cell lines in 1998. Assisted by NIH funding, his team distributed human embryonic stem cells across North America, Europe and Israel, and supported scientists in establishing stem cell research laboratories. Prof. Itskovitz-Eldor was one of the founders of Israel Stem Cell Society and served as its president in years 2007-2009. His team pioneered platform technologies for growing, expanding and differentiating human pluripotent stem cells which support future clinical and industrial applications.
